Trying again without photos

G,Day I started this blog last week. I couldn't post because it wouldn't let me . It being what ever powers this programme. So here is last weeks

Last week

Yesterday DH and I had the annual flu injections, nice and easy not a bit of bother u til I had to get the 5 year pneumonia booster. Not so good last night I hardly slept as I had this very heavy sore arm, so I had better not get pneumonia after going through this pain. I don't remember having pain with the first injection 5 years ago. Into the bargain I have had a sore big toe, Oh! poor Margaret - Thanks I feel better already.I haven't done a lot of machine sewing this last week, I have been stitching and have decided to turn this quilt into a block a month, here are the finished blocks so far.

Years ago I made these coat hangers. I bought the original and copied from that. I think I started with eight stitches and gradually increased until the piece fitted over the centre of a wire coat hanger and then decreased in the same manner as I increased. Then crocheted a face and made the pom poms. I thought he was quite nice and someone might like to have a go at one . He looks a bit tatty, but then he isn't young anymore. Around this time the Movie where Barbra Streisand sang Wind beneath my wings, can't think of the name at the moment. Getting back to where I was - In this movie for a very short time, a flash to be more exact, there was a scene of a child's bedroom and on the wall was a clown's face like this only in material. I made those for missionary fetes using white taffeta for the face , with pink or blue ruffles in taffeta and made them into cushions for the child's bed.

That's it for today , the blog keeps telling me I have illegal characters - errors, so hope this one works I will definitely feel a 100% tomorrow .

Today Tuesday 21st.

Iam glad to report that my arm and toe are well again and that makes Margaret a happy chappy. Each morning this week we have awoken to chirping in the trees in the front garden from these Green Parrots. The Black Cockatoos just fly straight on by to the tallest Eucalypt a few doors away.

I am a K.Y.B. Leader and this term we are studying Jeremiah. Some of the words are gems, and these are giving me a great deal of pleasure. I know that many of the bloggers are commited Christians. Do you like me get troubled whenpeople think that all paths lead to God ?

This is what Friday 3rd April at around 11.30 a.m.looks like on a grey wet day at the International Flower Show in Melbourne from inside the door of the Exhibition Building.
And inside there were beautiful flowers on display. Alstromea to the left and in the centre Gloriosa. I have a Gloriosa in the garden. The displays were very creative.

We had to head inside a second time as the rain poured down, the lightning flashed and the thunder roared. We were only able to catch short periods outside. The Royal Exhibition building was built in 1880 . Melbourne was basking in wealth from the Victorian gold fields. My grandmother told me stories of how in the 1890s she and her sisters would put on their finest of clothes and be seen walking around the roof top walk. I was able to do this sometime ago through an outing with the National Trust. I do not know how they walked around with a large hat, and a parasol, in a long dress along a narrow parapet. The first time I went to an Exhibition was in 1948, probably the first after the war. During the war the building was taken over by the Military and used as a hospital . In the late 40s early 50s a privately owned Aquarium was along side the building. It was burnt down in 1953. My sister who was five years older than me used to take me there on a Sunday afternoon.

I have been sewing this week, the browser wont allow me any more photos so I will have to show and tell next week. Hoo roo Margaret

p.s The cockatoos are still around and about 10 came down from the branches to have a drink from the birdbath in the front garden.
