This weekend was a big one. Abbey was allowed to have weekend leave from the hospital. We live a good hours drive from the hospital in Melbourne . Abbey will turn 20 on the first of June.
Nathan who is in his last year at Ballarat University came down from Ballarat with is girlfriend Catherine. They made the cakes above and below. Nathan and Catherine are very good at bringing a plate along to family functions, and they always make a novelty cake or cakes. The cakes are Caramel Cupcakes .Later in the day Abbey's aunty from Yarram called in and she also bought along a cake.
Abbbey is moving to the Transitional Living Centre at Thornbury next week. The Transitional Living Centre was first begun 21 years ago by Professor Olver at the Post Trauma Assessment unit at Epworth hospital.Epworth Health Care is Melbourne's largest not for profit hospital .
Opened in 1920 as a community hospital in Richmond with 25 beds and 5 staff members, Epworth HealthCare has grown to be one of Australia's leading specialist hospitals renowned both locally and overseas.
Epworth HealthCare operates 6 hospitals. They are still at the original location in Richmond, Epworths significantly expanded with the inclusion of the recently constructed Epworth Eastern campus at Box Hill, Epworth Rehabilitation at Brighton and Camberwell, and Epworth Freemasons and Epworth Cliveden in East Melbourne.
As a not for profit private hospital Epworth HealthCare recieves no State or Federal Government funding and all surplus revenue generated during the year is reinvested in to new services and equipment, aimed at providing the best possible health care for the almost 90,000 patients admitted to Epworth HealthCare hospitals each year. Isn't that remarkable in this day and age.??
I gave Abbey the first ever pair of knitted socks featured last post and am now on to the second pair, using an old tried and tested pattern from ages ago. much easier pattern to read.
And I made another cat for a Christmas present Oh! I am so smart getting Chhristmas presents ready. But I think I need to go to stuffing school.
Well that's the lot for now Have a lovely week Margaret
