Never seem to have enought time.

Where does the time go?      It's June already the longest night has been and gone and Summer will be just around the corner. The roses are pruned, the two big trees in the front garden had a costly hair trim with a cherry picker and now we have so much winter sun that I am wondering what summer will be like --- Hot I expect -- these trees were planted 37 years ago.
Elaine from Muddling Through sent me these lovely pieces of fabric and I have a project in mind only at this point. as I have so many finished and unfinished things to do and to be done.

While looking  in the local Op Shop for gardening books for a young friend with acres and a house in Moriac I came across The Australian Heritage Cookbook printed in 1988 At the cost of $49.99. I picked it up for $15.00 and believe I got a bargain after checking out Books and Collectibles site.
It is full of lovely colour plates showing studies of our wonder full country.
Plenty of recipes some old some new.
Don't you just love this lady cleaning Scallops in Tasmania, and the seafood recipes are tasty. On a suggestion from this book we are having Mussels for tea tonight, (sent Keith into town to get fresh mussells from the man at the waterfront)
I have been having more fun with felt, once I found Nicole Mallallieu sold these bag closures.
I have now completed 5 and 3/4 socks and loving the feel of the wool and seeing the finished sock on a foot. Moda Noir at Spotlight and I used an old Paton's sock book pattern.
After the first bathmat I decided to make a larger one this pattern came from Bubsrugz and while you are there have a look at how the Aussie Spirit quilt is coming along. I stitched a square but( seniors moment ) can't tell you what.
This is the back of said bathmat. I have been correcting the Old Newspapers at the N.L.A. and you get to think how they spoke in the 1880 all very genteel. My paternal side of the family settled in the Broadford, Tyaak area in the 1800s. The Kilmore Free Press and the Broadford Courier have now been digitsed.
And finally I am making headway on the Friends quilt.       Where does the time go ??

Knit in at Federation Square

Knit in at Federation June 11th 2011 for Save the Children . My friend Dorothy and me knitting a square. I had made a rug so I took that along and placed it with many others that had been donated.

A couple of men learning how to knit
Then along three ladies who showed them how to hold the needles,
A great community effort , with needles clacking away. What better way to spend a Winter's Saturday afternoon.
