It's Friday and I feel like a restful weekend. The Leukaemia Foundation in Geelong have changed premises, better offices, garage for the car and right in the middle of Geelong West shopping centre - opposite The Chocolate Shop ---. I might have to do some more volunteering so I can have an excuse for a good coffee. Our G.S. has been with us all week, he is doing teaching rounds at Oberon High School where Andrea and her siblings went to school all those years ago. It has been a great week and we are looking forward to coming back next week. I am sending him home with Chocolate muffins , Savoury muffins and Burnt butter biscuits. He has been rather fond of the bbb, nothing like that in residence he tells me.

One missing Hmmm Margaret must have had a coffee.

I put these into patty pans as I hate washing the muffin tin, these being so small, some mixture always finds itself on to the pan, that'

s what you can look forward to in old age arthritic fingers. Sewing is good , goood therapy though and makes it all worth while.

I visited my friend Lois " who doesn't sew yesterday " at Greensborough. Though she may not sew she has a beautiful garden, this is the view that she has when sitting inside looking out into the back garden.

Lois's mother Alma nee Burns has links to the Skipping Girl Vinegar sign

I have been a busy little bee this week sewing a quilt perhaps photos next week. In my hoop at the moment is a Hatched and Patched stitchery Garden of Angels . I printed these using the material ironed onto the Reflex paper mode. Next time I will remember to cut the bits I don't want before scanning the paper. We learn by our mistakes, I might put a button or something over the Lily that is not part of the stitchery.

I can't be dallying around here to much today as I have a boarder for the next three weeks. Nathan DGS is coming for teaching rounds at the local High School.

I have started to make a proper quilt, you know what I mean following a pattern . I have nearly finished another quilt made from scrap pieces randomly placed. Tell me do you all have an iron in the sewing room ? I get tired walking backwards and forwards to iron a couple of inches.

Cows grazing at South Purrumbeete , on the road to Cobden. We went down to Cobden for lunch at Andrea's for mother's day, It was mums day off, but I do think DD had a hand in the lovely roast lamb dinner. On the way I took these photos from the car, I think they turned out very well, DH said all you will get is a blur. Have a look for yourself .

Bags n not much else

Saturday afternoon and the sun is shining, the kitchen has the smell of fresh cooked slice and everything in the garden is turning green. The Cottoneaster is looking its loveliest.
The Liquid Amber is turning colour and winter is approaching. DD is watching the Brisbane Lions on the Television.

During this week I made a couple of bags .Tried my hand at a bit of piecing on one.The photo doesn't show it up.

I wanted to make a round child's bag for a friend's GD. I took an entree plate from the cupboard and used it as my template, I then asked DD what the circumference of an 8" plate was --- while he did mental arithmetic I placed a mark on the plate and run the plate along the tape measure . We both came to the same number at the same time. I left the strap separate so it can be tied together. I think she will like the little bag for winter.

Yellow Chrysanthemum and more.

Where do I start on the first day of May ? Well this morning around 9.10a/m/ the parcel post rang the bell and I said oh! goody my redwork cushion. I didn't look on the back to see where it came from, I wanted all my surprises at once..

Chooky Blue made my beautiful cushion, I admire Donna's work so was ever so happy to receive this lovely cushion and three of her cards featuring her photography along with threads, which we all need to make beautiful friendships and ribbon to hold them all together.

The giving and receiving of gifts has to be number one on the best ever thing list.

DH was going to be on the phone for a while this morning so I made sure that I was out of the house ---- You see --- He doesn't know that he is going deaf and he yells when he is talking to someone on the phone. So off I went to visit two friends and hopefully bring a bit of cheer into their day.

Last year our GS rang a couple of times to ask if We could pick him up as the Magpies were attacking him on the way home from school. Yesterday there was a commotion outside the back window, these two maggies were locked together by their feet and beaks , and wrestling

I handed the camera to DH , went outside and told them to stop fighting--- about ten maggies swooped down I came back inside and DH took this photo and it was all over. Do you know how big there beaks are ???? Huge and long when you are up close.DGS can call anytime he likes I wouldn't want to be attacked by one of these, I am looking at the crows in a different light now. I wonder if it was a territory thing with these Maggies all swooping in , the noise of the wings and the squawking was horrific for a minute or two.

Now onto a lighter note --- I made a quilt---

from scrap. I started sewing a few squares together and then squaring them up, then a few more until I got a big oblong then I started again, until I had a big enough rug. Would you believe I had a large piece of scrap polished cotton enough to put on the backand around the edges . I put wool batting in the middle and used spray too hold it all together , smoothed it out and it was finished. I am now hand binding the edges and will take it up to Greensborough later in the month . I have a friend who does not sew. I write to her and send little things saying " Aren't I lucky to have a friend who doesn't sew " This is for her Polymyalgia knees. That's my lot for this week Margaret
