Graduate, Gang Gang & bag sewing

A mixed bag this post. Mainly Music is a programme for very young children with a focus on music and action songs, this programme is run at the Grovedale Uniting Church and many other churches across Australia. Mother's Day is just around the corner , so I am helping out with bag making presents for the mums.
 First off to the Op Shop to get ties, Curtain material swatches was used for the outside of the bag and scrap for the lining.

 Then cut tie so that you have a shoulder strap and a decorative flap.

 Ta Dah! 2 down 13 to go.

During the week we were visited by Gang Gang Cockatoos feeding on the Cottoneaster.

The change in the seasons brings the different species of bird life across the sky, and sometime they call in for a meal.

Now for the Big Day    First Grandson  to Graduate

Parliament in the making

What do owls do before eating? They prey.

 Parliament sitting , took me away from doing other things, though I was able to do a little re purposing.

Finish the Promises from Jenny of Elefantz  pattern. I showed the pattern to a friend , she said " that was her husband's favorite verse " so I made it into a cushion, for her.  It's so good to be able to give.

 Another friend gave me a " just because " Beaded Bookmark, I pulled out some braid and made some bookmarks up myself. They are so good as you can flip one end back to a page that you wanted to go back to, and sooo eaasy to make. using your own imagination and " stuff" in the box, you know the one, the one with really good stuff in.

Blog land operates to share, encourage, inspire, create, and all those other uplifting adjectives. Two of my friends gave me a Liebster Blog Award  which I was to pass on, however I declined the other to single out 5 persons and have them join in a chain award. I thank Bev and Karen for thinking of me, it was a nice fuzzy.

Cooking, Eating more than sewing

Saturday of the Easter holiday break , a day for doing nothing after the solemn Good Friday , perhaps we need a day to reflect and do nothing.

Andrea of The Glorious Years and family were in Bright holidaying for the first week of the school holidays,  I made cup cakes and meringues for them when they called in on their way back home.

I always use Pavlova Mix for pavs and meringues. You can't go past this little egg for easiness and success, I use two eggs beaten separately for a big, big pav, with deep marshmallow. The smooth meringues are plain and the lumpy ones have crushed cornflakes.

Now on to Fridays seafood lunch.

Fresh Portarlington mussells soaking in fresh water after being scrubbed. GD2 who is studying Zoology gave us a full rundown on the marine  mussels they  are large, brown-black bivalved molluscs. How they take in water and all those things I can't remember, I enjoyed these fat juicy morsels , even with the running commentary.

The Chowder ready and waiting for the Marina Mix, Tomato , oil and garlic ready for the Australian Prawns.

Sweet Potato and spiced water for the cous cous. The table half set waiting for the people.

The meal, Seafood chowder with sourdough bread , Bass fillets, Garlic prawns with spiced cous cous sweet potato and beans, lastly mussells . that was enough. Hope you have a Blessed Easter break.
