Bag, Cushion and Quilt and the Waves at Ocean Grove.

Yesterday my niece came down to Geelong for the day, I had previously told her about KYO in Ocean Grove so that is where we were headed. On the way we stopped off at the Dunes Restaurant for coffee. This is an amazing location! overlooking the Surf beach of Ocean Grove. The view from inside the restaurant is world class. The restaurant has wrap around glass windows from which you take in views of Barwon Heads, the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse and black bodied surfers bobbing up and down in waves. In winter the whales come to join in the fun.
Can you see the container ship on the horizon he was heading out to places unknown.

If you half close your eyes you can see the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse. Did you see it ??? I enjoyed the day out, as I love to get down to the ocean beaches. Next we went to KYO in Smithton Street Ocean Grove, the warehouse was overflowing with all those lovely things that you would like, but , do not know what to do with. I picked up a top, zips and a couple of lovely brooches, that I will use as adornments on something. We then went on to Pont Lonsdale for lunch.
I got my quilt back from the quilter sewed the binding and have just this last minute or so finished the hand sewing. Yippee - I made a quilt to a pattern -- take a bow Margaret !!!.

The stitchery is from Hatched and Patched Garden of Angels. I loved working these little angels. This one is Rose , I used Andrea's scraps to make the cushion. Comes in handy when you have a daughter that makes " Proper Quilts ".

This bag is one I will have for sale at the Point Lonsdale Market for the Leukeamia Foundation.

And to finish off with Penneshaw Lighthouse Kangaroo Island south of South Australia.
You can stay at Cape Willoughby in Heritage cottages. Awesome adventure, You have to put this place on your Bucket List .Cape Willoughby is at the easternmost point of Kangaroo Island. It is all spectacular especially the sunrises. The lighthouse has a 360-degree view of the rugged coastline and the ever-changing seas of Backstairs Passage.Cape Willoughby is located 30 kilometres east of Penneshaw - just 30 minutes from the ferry terminal between the mainland and Kangaroo Island. Check the site to rad more about the lighthouse. Kangaroo Island has more that one lighthouse, so stay tuned.

Well that's my lot for today, the morning rain has stopped and the Magpies are warbling their little hearts out. I have two Darling GS playing football today so lets hope they win and then on to the finals next week . MARGARET. p.s. my next post will be in Springtime then come Summer.
pps. GS playing U/14 won he plays for South Barwon. So hope GS who plays for Cobden has the same outcome.

Late mail, Gs Cobden footy player's team lost --- GS got one of best players.

Pastoral Care Giving is indescribable.

Time has been at a premium over the last two weeks needless to say that is why I have been away from my blog. Today DH is at Airey's Inlet Lighthouse taking part in International Lighthouse Day when all the Lighthouses over the world are open and Ham Radio enthusiasts speak to each other from a Lighthouse. So that being so -- I have the day to myself with no car so I can be "her indoors " and do as I please.
Indescribable is a word we use when we can't think of another to describe what we are talking about. It also a word for Peace and Hope. The week before last we went to the Kinglake - Flowerdale district. My forebears farmed land around Tyaak, Strath Creek. It was sombre as the navigation points, landmarks were no longer there. We had to stop along the road for workers to repair fencing so I took this snap. It is incredible to see the green growth sprouting from the burnt trees. But sad to see mile upon mile of this landscape with no houses.

Leaving Kinglake we took the Yea Flowerdale road and came out into open country like this. Sheep grazing, rolling green hills no other than a pastoral setting .

Maggie and George 1903

My grandfather had the mail run from Strath Creek to Flowerdale in 1903. Strath Creek Flowerdale area is known by the locals as the "Valley of a Thousand Hills". It boggles the mind to think how long it took to deliver the mail over the journey of 13 km in a horse drawn Jinker . Below is my father cooking lunch ( sausages ) after a mornings rabbiting in the same area. I have walked over, up, down and around these hills carrying a bag of nets, so many times that I couldn't give you a figure.

This week has been busy with the launch of Light the Night in Geelong. On Wednesday morning Keith and I attended the launch breakfast at the Mercure in Geelong. In the afternoon I had arranged to go to the Cobden Uniting Church with Chelsea from the the L.F. to give a talk on the work and support given to patients and families who are undertaking treatment for Leukaemias . Lymphomas and Myelomas. After the breakfast I had to record a message at the local radio station then we took off for Cobden. When we got to Winchelsea it was time for coffee, as we stopped the car another older couple got out of their car and walked around and followed us into the tea rooms which were previously the Winchelsea Council Chambers. After we had looked around the many photos on the wall we ordered and sat down ( long story) . The couple then entered and I asked if they were locals or visitors, we got talking and asked them to share our table, the conversation was most enjoyable, we shared many things which resulted in a large cheque for the Leukaemia Foundation. Giving is Indescrible don't you think ?? God is Good and you can't out give God . Our talk at the Cobden U.C.F. was accepted and a freewill offering was taken up , again I boggle at God's gracious gifts. Then on Friday a friend popped in with some chocolates for DH because he had fixed their computer and I was handed a little something to go with my collection of Brownie Downing plates, Whew I didn't know what to say. so can I say again You can't out give God's goodness.
